Cleaning: Enamel is not really that demanding. A sponge and washing-up liquid will be sufficient. We recommend using natural cleaners – lemon juice or baking soda. Just don’t use a scourer! You can try using baking soda, when you are left with hard to remove stains.Use a soft cloth to avoid scratches. With proper care, your enamelware can be sparkling and in top condition for years to come.
How's it made: Enamel is a material produced by fusing powdered glass to a substrate. It is fired along with additive pigments. Covering the steel elements with enamel protects the base material from rust, gives the ware a pleasing aesthetic, and also guarantees health and safety whilst using the enamelware in the kitchen. The durability of the enamelware comes as a result of it being fired at high temperatures (about 850°C) This not only makes it durable but makes it suitable for use on every cooker (including induction hobs) and also makes it dishwasher safe.
Care: Enamelware is very durable, but it also can be damaged when handling without proper care. Throwing, dropping or scratching is really not recommended. If it accidentally happens and your enamelware chips on the outside, you can still use it. It will make your enamelware even more unique. However, if you will see that your enamelware is damaged in a place that can have contact with food, you should stop using it for eating or drinking.
TIP: You can make a great flowerpot out of old enamelware!
